In 1875, Eizaemon Fukagawa and three partners set up a company in Koransha to produce and export Arita porcelain. After Eizaemon left the company in 1879, he set up Koran and later came to be known as Koransha. Since its establishment in 1879, Koransha has participated and won many prices in overseas exhibitions and obtained the distinction of purveyors to the Imperial Household Agency during the Meiji era. Koransha style refers to their delicate paintings and elegant forms.
Arita yaki is porcelain manufactured by the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture. That's one of the most prized porcelains in Japan. There are three star kilns among the porcelain, "Koransha" and "Gentemonykiln," whose heritage is preserved 400 years of Arita tradition.
In 2008 the Japanese Prime Minister presented a Koransha-made Arita-yaki fountain pen to the leader of each country as a commemorative gifts at the G8 Summit ,held at Toya Lake in Japan. The concept of Arita-yaki fountain pens is ‚cultural fusion‘ of the Western style technology -fountain pens and the Eastern style – Arita porcelin. It took two years to develop and produce Arita-yaki fountain pens.
