PELIKAN LIMITED EDITION ACHIEVEMENT OF CIVILIZATION FIRE FOUNTAIN PEN (2010)
Pelikan Fire is the third limited model from the Pelikan LE "Achievement of Civilization" released in 2010 with the total of 500 pens circulated worldwide. The project began on 2007/2008 following the release of "Evolution of Script (2007)" with the total of 930 pens made and "The Calculation of Times (2008) with the total of 730 units.
Fire, and the power it wields, served as a major tool for advancement among the earliest inhabitants of the earth. Fire provided the earliest men with a number of luxuries previously unavailable to the human species. For one, it provided man with a source of warmth. This was important for the obvious reason of comfort on cold nights, but it also has further reaching implications – it may have helped man expand geographically.
The most important motif is the bowl filled with fire. History tells us that in former times, our ancestors had to wait for lightning to strike before they could ‘catch’ the flames. They filled skulls with oil in order to preserve the special flames that gave warmth, kept wild beasts at bay and helped to prepare food. Today, fire is just a match away, but to celebrate this achievement of civilization, the bowl of fire is depicted on the clip, the especially created nib, and the cap. The barrel is made of brass and lacquered several times in a vivid red. Every flame on the barrel is first lasered, then plated with 24 carat gold. Five real Topaz gem-stones make the sparks come alive. The nib is made of 18K gold with medium tipping, replaced box and genuine certificate & documentation for this exact pen.
