CONWAY STEWART MEDICAL SCIENCES LIMITED EDITION FOUNTAIN PEN (2009)
The popular Belliver model by Conway Stewart served as the inspiration for the exclusive Medical Sciences limited edition created especially for Internet Pens of California, Limited only 50 pcs worldwide.
The Belliver's dimensions are designed to accommodate the greatest variety of hand sizes and writing styles. It is not so big as to be difficult to handle, but it is still big enough to draw attention right away and provide a secure hold. A solid brass barrel liner is used to balance the Belliver, providing just the right amount of weight so that writing for extended periods of time does not become taxing on the hand. Because the cap weighs less, it can, if desired, post firmly on the end of the barrel.
The cap and barrel of the Medical Sciences are exclusively engraved, and it is fashioned from hand-made resin. The solid 18 carat gold cap band is inscribed in Latin with the words "Ars longa, vita brevis" by the Greek physician Hippocrates. Hippocrates used this quotation as the first sentence of one of his books. "Ars longa, vita brevis, occasio praeceps, experimentum periculosum, iudicium difficile" is the complete quote. This would lead us to understand "Ars longa, vita brevis" to mean "one has but a short time to acquire and perfect one's expertise (of medicine), and it takes a long time to do so." This serves as a reminder for us to keep learning and honing our craft.
